Horror Movies You Don’t Want to Miss to Watch This 2021

The horror genre is undeniably the most watched film in the world. I don’t know if what’s the reason but possibly, people loved to be scared or simply fond of watching stories that can crawl under their skin. This 2021 there’s a lot of movies were released despite the pandemic issue of the world. Some were shot during the pre-covid times and some just adapted to the current health situation of the world and make use of the virtual presence to scare people.

The following are some of the horror movies to watch this 2021. It is listed in random order so no preferences at all but just a list of scary stories that you might consider watching.

  1. OLD. The movie was released last July 21, 2021 and the plot of the story surround around an island where unsuspected victims rapidly grow old or matured. As in incredibly growing old in a unimaginable rate. Just imagining that a young kid will turn into a full grown adult in a few hours or minutes (I don’t actually pay attention with the time so you should watch it to actually know the exact duration of the rapid growth), makes me fill a certain chill of excitement on how this story will end and how brings psychological tease to watchers. I am doing my best right now not to spoil the story but if your fond of mystery, thriller and horror in one, this mysterious “old” phenomena is for you. Check out its full trailer below. Old stars Gael García Bernal, Vicky Krieps, Rufus Sewell, Alex Wolff, Thomasin McKenzie, Abbey Lee, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Ken Leung, Eliza Scanlen, Aaron Pierre, Embeth Davidtz, Emun Elliott, Alexa Swinton, Gustaf Hammarsten, Kathleen Chalfant, Francesca Eastwood, Nolan River, Luca Faustino Rodriguez, Mikaya Fisher, Kailen Jude, M. Night Shyamalan, Matthew Shear, Daniel Ison, Jeffrey Holsman, Margaux Da Silva, John Twohy, and Kylie Begley. Honestly, I am not satisfied with the ending but of course it is just a matter of preferences. Watch it and leave a comment below if you have any reaction about this.
  2. Escape Room: Tournament of Champions. This is the sequel to the 2019 movie Escape Room and part of the Escape Room collection which story revolves around victims who need to solve puzzles in a room to survive. Failing to get the clues can lead to the death of the participants and watching the first movie left me some questions and unsatisfying answers. By watching the second movie, it answered most of the questions left by the first movie. Its like the Jigsaw movie but like the Squid Game series that participants are playing for rich people that are betting their survival. However, the Escape Room 2 leads to a different story and possibility of the 3rd movie to complete its trilogy. The ending reveals a lot of what to expect on the next page of the story of this movie. The deaths and gores with the sequel is much lighter compared to the first and much lesser exciting compare to its predecessor. Trailer of the film can be watched below.
  3. The Unholy. Released last April 2021. The horror movie surround with the unholy miracle happening in a small town in New England where one of the primary character who is hearing-impaired got cured and started to speak and heal the sick. So basically the movie shows false god and evil manifestation that hide under the guise of the Virgin Mary. The highlights of the horror movie is when people in the town started to die in a horrible event and reveals the real intention of the spirit that is giving miracles to the people. The Unholy stars effrey Dean Morgan, Cricket Brown, Cary Elwes, Katie Aselton, William Sadler, Christine Adams, Diogo Morgado, Marina Mazepa, Celeste Oliva, Bates Wilder, Gisela Chipe, Danny Corbo, Dustin Tucker, Bill Thorpe, Charlie Thurston, Mere Davis, Kiara Pichardo, Kevin Fennessy, Cassidy Neal, Kevin Daigneault, Jeff Bouffard, Rob Lévesque, Mike Wendt, J.J. Wright, Janelle Feigley, Michael Strauss, Amber Sage, Andrea Athanassiou, Hannah Jane Doyon, Stephen O’Neil Martin, Nate Luis Silva, Adrian M. Mompoint, Jonathan Neves, Ian Dylan Hunt, Madison LaPlante,  and Tim Estiloz. The trailer below shows a glimpse of the “unholy” presence dressed in a holy nun but with dark presence.
  4. Malignant. This movie was released last September 2021 and one of the horror movie that surprised me. I was not expecting the whole plot but I got a small idea but I was not expecting of what the story revealed. The primary protagonist of the story is a woman who see clearly grisly murders like nightmares and later she found out that it actually happening or it already happened. It’s like a vision of the future or a nightmare manifested by his memories. When the story reveals the real truth behind this nightmarish dreams and visions, you will be smiling and will surprised with what is actually happening. Its unbelievably satisfying how they actually twisted the story. Probably you can find some clues from the trailer below on what the story will lead to. Probably! Tip: don’t believe what you see in the trailer hehehe…
  5. VHS 94. If you like found footage like movie then this sequel to the series of VHS movies is for you. But of course, if you already watched the previous film of this kind, you will be criticizing this new movie as you might see it as really “fake” found footage unlike the previous films of this franchise. This film is part of the VHS collection film and surround with collection of short films shot with the classic VHS format. The grainy, unfocus and the blurred style movies. This was released last September 2021 and features some horrifying and bloody footages of stories shot in a low-tech video cam recorder. Check out the teaser trailer below.

  6. Halloween Kills. Who does not love Mike Myers movie? Everyone loves it that’s why this movie have been running in the theaters with several sequels and with continuity. This year, Mike Myers is back! Just when you thought that he died in the 2018 Halloween movie as  he was trapped in a fire. It seems this killing machine is really invincible. If you want to see how it goes after he get out from the “fire trap” set for him from the last movie, check out the full trailer of the movie below. The question now is will it be his last movie and this time, the evil dies? Will Laurie Strode (Curtis), her daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and granddaughter Allyson succeed this time in delivering the final blow and death to the legendary Michael Myers?
